Embodying Healthy Relationships

I experienced a wonderful a-ha moment this week! Healthy relationships are a blessing, and I always love it when I realize how I can grow in my relationships, both present and future.

I have come to a great realization – the healthy space for me is not needing or requiring anyone to behave a certain way for me to be happy. In an attempt to be helpful, a friend of mine stressed the importance of my asking for what I need from people in my relationships. The resistance I felt stemmed from the idea of making someone else responsible for how I feel, because they aren’t meeting my needs. I know this to be a recipe for codependency, and certainly not healthy.

What I do know is this: I would like loving relationships with all of my friends, family, and romantic partners. As an empowered woman, it is up to me to choose not to restrict that to a particular way of occurring. After all, loving someone unconditionally means allowing a space for them to show up as they choose. As long as we maintain a mutually respectful relationship then all is well!

I love being able to realize when I have grown as a person. Noticing the things I used to do, or the way I used to react to situations, and realizing I no longer behave that way is powerful. Definitely a blessing!

Peace and positive energy to you!
