I am continually reminded that life can change in a flash. Realize the blessing of life lived on this earth one more day.
A few days ago, I was watching the movie San Andreas, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. In one of the scenes, his character is expressing regrets about not being able to save his daughter from drowning. My mouth fell open as I watched his memories. In the event, his daughter was white water rafting and fell over the raft into the water and drowned.
I recalled my own near death experience that occurred nearly exactly as hers did. I went white water rafting several years ago in Tennessee with a group. I was sitting on the right side of the raft, like she was. And I fell over into the water, like she did. I struggled to come to the surface where I could breathe, like she did. Only, I survived. And she drowned.
This moment brought me to tears. And you would think because it’s a movie I could say well, that didn’t really happen. But, the idea that it could have is still impactful. In that moment, I recalled my near drowning experience and was reminded yet again of how life can be fleeting. How to value every moment because in an instant,
Everything. Can. Change.
Live life to the fullest. No regrets. When an opportunity appears, if it feels right, take it. Because if you assume it will come around again, there are no promises.
Just before I saw this scene in San Andreas, I had been texting with a friend. We were discussing a trip where we would get to see each other again for the first time since our 10 year high school reunion. That was 19 years ago. I thought to myself – wow, just like that, 19 years of life lived and it feels like it went by in the snap of a finger.
Live life now, not on the layaway plan. Connect with that friend now. Take that trip now. Go back to school now. Find a career you love now. Spend time with your family now.
Do it NOW!
All the best to you!
